Connected prescribing

E-prescribing powered by DoseSpot.

A connected workflow that keeps medication selection with the prescriber, pharmacy choice with the patient, and final clinical responsibility with a human clinician.

One platform for the practice

Zenthea is a multi-tenant EHR platform for healthcare practices covering scheduling, clinical documentation, orders, billing, and the patient portal. E-prescribing is integrated into the encounter workflow rather than separated from the rest of the patient's care experience.

From encounter to the selected pharmacy

In the e-prescribing workflow, the prescriber selects the medication, including the clinically appropriate details, and the patient selects their pharmacy. Once the prescription is reviewed and signed, it is transmitted electronically to the patient's selected pharmacy through DoseSpot.

  1. The prescriber selects the medication in the encounter workflow.
  2. The patient selects the pharmacy that should receive it.
  3. A human clinician checks the prescription and applies the required signature.
  4. DoseSpot transmits the prescription electronically to the patient's selected pharmacy.

Human review, every time

Human clinicians review and sign every prescription. Thea only drafts for clinician review; it does not independently choose a medication, approve a prescription, or replace the prescriber's clinical judgment. The prescribing clinician remains responsible for confirming the patient, medication, directions, pharmacy, and clinical appropriateness before signing.

Clear roles for clinicians and patients

Clinicians retain control of medication decisions while patients retain choice of the receiving pharmacy. Keeping those responsibilities explicit helps the practice deliver a coordinated experience across the encounter, order, patient portal, and pharmacy handoff.
